Locally owned and operated since 2002.
Services we provide:
- FREE Video Otoscopies (looking in to one’s ear with a video camera and displaying it on a TV monitor) to check for excessive ear wax accumulations or any deformity or trauma the ear may have.
- Hearing screenings and comprehensive hearing evaluations. These tests determine the levels of hearing an individual has.
- Tympanograms are performed to check the range of the tympanic membrane (the ear drum) to check range of motion and flexibility of the ear drum. Once testing is done, a person may be referred to an Otorhinolaryngologist (Ear, Nose, and Throat Doctor) for further evaluation.
We FIT and DISPENSE hearing instruments, which is to say we make a hearing aid to physically fit the ear, and adjust or program it to suit each individuals hearing loss and lifestyle. Prior to the fitting, we counsel patients as to the pros and cons of hearing instruments and hearing instrument styles to set a realistic expectation. Then, long-term, we do the maintenance and repair of hearing instruments.
I have a strong reputation in town for taking the extra time to get the best fit. In fact, about 30% of my new business comes from patient referrals.
SOME of the brands of hearing instruments we carry at Solbrig Hearing are:
Phonak OTICON REXTON Unitron
Starkey Bernafon Siemens Sonic Innovations
Interton Micro-Tech
I carry 27 brands of hearing instruments, but commonly fit only 5 of those. The ones in red are the brands I promote the most.
I have a wide variety of Assistive Listening Devices (ALD’s). I am an Authorized Vendor for TV Ears, a device to assist with watching TV at acceptable loudness levels, so the family can all remain in one room. I also carry amplified phones and related accessories. They can be purchased in a retail manner. They can also use various programs to help defray the cost. One program covers the entire cost of an amplified phone. This program through the State of Texas is called Specialized Telecommunications Assistance Program (STAP) which will actually BUY hearing impaired individuals an amplified phone. I am an approved STAP Vendor. I complete the required forms and certify the loss, and send it in. Five to Six weeks later, they get the voucher in the mail. They can redeem it here at Solbrig Hearing for their phone.
Finally, since noise is the number ONE reason for hearing loss in the USA, I also encourage prevention of hearing loss through the use of Custom Hearing Loss Protection (CHLP). I have hearing protection that is custom forms and shaped to specifically fit YOUR ear, so it is more comfortable, and as a result it is worn longer and more often. I also have electronic Shooter’s Hearing Protection which allows one to hear well, until a weapon is fired, then it “cuts out” to prevent the loudness levels that cause harms from damaging your hearing.
I am a member of the Texas Hearing Aid Association.
I am a fifth-generation Texan on my father’s side, and a fourth-generation on my mother’s side, so I am not going anywhere any time soon (Good Lord willing!).
I am also a member of the International Hearing Society(IHS).
